The Foundation: Sunrise Technologies
John Pence founded Sunrise Technologies from his dining room table, determined to create a consulting firm that specialized in delivering technology solutions with honesty, hard work, and a customer-first mindset. Over the years, Sunrise grew into a global powerhouse, leading some of Microsoft’s largest and most complex implementations across retail, apparel, footwear, manufacturing, and distribution.

The Gap in the Market
As Sunrise worked with larger enterprise customers, Mason Whitaker saw a growing problem: Small and mid-sized businesses lacked access to enterprise-grade ERP solutions. Companies were outgrowing entry-level solutions like QuickBooks, but their only options were expensive, overly complex ERP systems designed for massive enterprises. Then Microsoft introduced Dynamics 365 Business Central, this was the lightbulb moment.

The Birth of Volt Technologies
Recognizing the potential to fill this gap in the market, Mason Whitaker and John Pence teamed up to launch Volt Technologies, a venture that would bring Sunrise’s enterprise-level expertise, proven methodology, and best-in-class support to the SMB market. With Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its foundation, Volt was built to help small to mid-sized businesses streamline operations and scale with confidence.
